I remember St Michael's Grove & especially the big Feast at the end of the summer. You always knew when something was going on there cause you could hear the Italian music all throughout the Hillcrest area. People came in from all over in buses. I think mostly from New York though. Remember all the saints with money pinned all over them, and the big finale was when the angel would fly across the sky (on a wire) across the grove! The angel was Biage (who has a pizza place on Totowa Ave now) when he was a little boy. My God those were great memories! And in the winter we would go up to the Grove to sleighride. I really wish it was still there, because I still live in the area & that was a great bit of Italian culture that I would have loved my son to experiance.

I remember my father and my best friend and I going to shoot our rifles up there after it Saint Michaels Grove (The Grove) closed up and was overgrown - it was a great place to be a kid and explore and have fun. It was so huge - remember Otillio's on Halloween? He ALWAYS had the best candy - I do the same now that I am older - I get TONS of candy and put it in a big bucket place it at the front door outside and tell the kids - go ahead - take all you want.....Otillio had a big wooden wheelbarrow filled with candy at his front door. That was back in the late 70 early 80's

I grew up on Emerson Avenue and remember great times at the "grove". I remember the feast, from when I was very young, but later we used the grove for riding motorcycles. When we got a little older, we would ride our mountain bikes through the grove; it was so close and it was a great ride. Most of all, I remember having a blast hanging out with my brother and friends up there!!!.....great memories that I will never forget.
Growing up in the Hillcrest area was nice, and PS 27 provided a lot of nice memories too. I also remember Otillo's at Halloween....the place to go.

I grew up on Linwood Ave. I have great memories of going to St. Michael's Grove every summer. We also went there in the winter to sleigh ride. I also remember going to Otillio's for halloween. They had that giant basket of candy on the table in the foyer. We also went there every year to sing Christmas carols to raise money for the orphanage. One year he invited us back for a second night to see the live Nativity. I now live in Toms River, and remember the first time my husband and I went back to the old neighborhood. I was speechless when I saw that the woods, where we played almost every day, were gone and replaced by homes.

I grew up in Lyndhurst but hung around alot in Paterson, especially enjoying the old Falls View for burgers hot dogs and fries. A nocturnal visit to St Michaels Grove was a right of passage for most of us especially if we wanted to scare the more daring girls who came along with us. Of course we told them it was haunted before we got there. I really enjoyed the place anytime i went there. Our trips there were during the 60's and 70's so I've not been there in quite awhile since I now live in Florida. I owned a small body shop on River Rd. in Garfield very close to, of course, the Passaic River so it wasn't hard for us to close up and go for lunch at the Falls View then take a tour of the Paterson Museum where the train locomotives were built. I miss your town and would love to re-visit the old neighborhoods there agian. I sure do hope some of the old buildings are still there Wayne P. Giordano

I was fortunate enough to attend the Feast of St. Michael's back in the late 1950 My father built a shrine for a family, Santa Lucia Shrine and we went to visit it. What a wonderful experience. I belong to an Italian American Club in Palm Coast, Fl. and write monthly articles of Italian Heritage. My next article is about my experience at the grove on that visit. You can see it at my blog theroadtomissoula.blogspot.com.

This film has been selected to be put into the National Archives Film Library in Washington DC. Tony and I are producing a short feature film that take place in Paterson making use of the city's interesting history.

Luke Bryan is my favourite country singer. His voice takes me away from all issues of this world so I start enjoy my life and listen songs created by his voice. Now the singer is going on a tour this year. The concerts scheduled for this year, up to the mid-October. Ticket prices are moderate and available for all men and women with different income. If you are a country music lover as me, then you must visit at least one Luke's concert. All tour dates are available at the Luke Bryan tour dates.
