Howdy Lillian! It's never too late to act on impulse. Well... That's not really true... I would say that when we start hearing the breathless beat of angels wings... It's too late. (but by that time, who cares?) You want to call Ralph? Do It!!! If he doesn't remember you, so what? You remember him and that's what's important. When I was 15 years old, I dated a girl named Karen all summer. We got along great! Went everywhere together. The summer ends... She goes off to live with her Father and we Parted friends. I ran into her at a party when I came home on leave a measley 2 years later and she didn't remember me. No kidding! I couldn't believe it! Hell, we practically lived together two summers ago and she couldn't place me? I was really hoping that she was whacked out on drugs or something but nope! She was sober as a Judge and asked... "Who did you say you were?" Having THAT kind of impact on someone is bizarre to say the least. So, if Ralph say's he doesn't recall you just remember, it could be worse... think of Karen. We are having our annual family picnic here next Saturday and all my sisters will be here. I'm going to show them your emails to see if they remember those people you mentioned. It will be great fun! So, how are things in your neck of the woods? We have had a bit of rain here lately and even my Geese are starting to get annoyed. It's usually feast or famine. Two years ago we had a severe drought and last year it rained so much that it screwed up my well thought out and perfectly executed vacation plans. It was the 140th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg. Stayed at a bed and breakfast right on the Battlefield from July 1st to the 4th. The re-enactment was going to be a sight to see... Until it was cancelled... Yeah... They cancelled it... Why? Because the ground was too wet. Too bad the real soldiers who fought there in 1863 couldn't use that one. One of the Park Rangers that I carped to asked me how I thought the Brits felt about it. They travelled all the way from England to participate in the mock battles and were never told it was cancelled. I was shocked. British Civil War re-enactors? I never knew they took such an interest in THAT war. Well, gotta go for now. Write soon! Jim

Hi Dottie!
Mullers bakery? Oh yeah! I remember that place... Right next to Julians Hardware store. I cannot remember where Camden street is. What was it near? Was it over by Gorney & Gorney's funeral home? I grew up on George, Elk, Atlantic, Gould, Dakota, and Goshen streets. I remember my mother always looking in the Paterson Evening News or the Morning Call for "Rooms". Nobody ever said they were looking for a house or apartment back then, it was always "Rooms". There's something Freudian about that. So... When was the last time you were in Paterson? I was there last week. Me and my sisters went to Libby's. God how I love that place! Two dogs all the way! (I think I'll have that engraved on my tombstone) Well... Gotta go. Between Mullers and Libby's I'm getting hungry. Write soon! Jim Bouse

Hi Dotti, Hi Jim, Mullers had great jelly doughnuts, and white bread. What I would not give to get my hands on two dogs all the way. I have to make my own here in Scotland, not the same as going to Libby's.It must be my age but I sure miss the good old USA. But I would not know how to start out again on my own. I have lost my nerve now that I am older, I wish I could get it back. I lived on Timothy St and Getty Ave right across the street from school no.9 Well I will go for now ,hope you write soon! From Lillian I did not login so i had to shorten my name

Hi Lillian!
Somebody would come by the house with the square white box wrapped with string. It was definitely from Mullers. The adults would stand around talking while we kids went completely Pavlovian. Didn't matter what was inside... Jelly donuts... Krullers... Hell, even their plain rolls were great. They had this one particular cake. It was gold inside with a chocolate icing that had these Mocha lines run across the top. I would swim across the Passaic river for one of those today! Do you want to actually see the old neighbothood? My son put this thing on my computer the other day. It's called "GOOGLEEARTH". It's a free download of satellite images. I have never seen anything like it before! You can actually zoom in on streets and houses. When you bring up the site, look for "Free download" because they have one that you can buy too. The free one does it all. You said that you lost your nerve because your getting older. I know what you're saying... Having alot of nerve allowed me to do irrational things on impulse. With age came patience, caution and the experience of cause and effect. Not to mention the fact that how many bridges can somebody build before you get sick of being a builder? (so to speak) George Bernard Shaw was right when he said that it's a pity that youth is wasted on young people. Well, gotta go for now. Yard work is calling. I have a ton of things to do before we're buried up to our ears in snow and ice. Before I go... Did you know that Libby's sells it's sauce and will send it anywhere in the world? (packed in dry ice) If you want, I could arrainge to have a quart or two jetted over to Auld Scotland for you. Let me know. It's the sauce that makes the dogs, you know. :-) Jim Bouse

Hello all... Lillian in Scotland... where are you in Scotland? Anyone interested in getting their hands on the Libby's sauce recipe? Yes... it is the real thing. I worked there as a kid when Bill Pappas owned it, and made the sauce... wow... that was over 40 years ago! Interestingly, I sent a copy of it a number of years ago to someone who also lived on Ryerson Avenue, and now lives in Scotland!!! I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the Totowa Spa!!! Best regards to all, and thanks for the memories. John Panagos CastleMcKenzie@brmrmc.net

I tried for years to get the recipe for libbys sauce but jack was very secretive about it even among his employees I know a few people that made sauce there and jack always put the secret stuff in himself i think. I remember the totowa spa and knew a few people from that area too

Hi Jean Williams, I use to hang out at Piccolo's pizzeria, and knew Freddie, I have a picture I took of him with a boy called Eddie I think thats his name. Ralph Piccolo thought a lot of Freddie and we all were upset when he died. from Lillian
