Where was the Lincoln dance at? I remember going to the dances at the Firehouse in Totowa on Mc Bride Ave (kitty corner from Pappy's) I used to go to the dances also at Front St. and Preakness ave. C Y O was always on Wednesday Night at St. Mary's School. Good times, we did not realize at that time how lucky we were. JOJO

I only went to The Lincoln Club, at the end of Union and on W. Braodway, a couple of times. Club Tyan, on Union Ave. in Totowa, was one that I went to most. Usually I was with Buttons, Billy Maher, Bobby Casbarro, Bob Sidney. At that time the clothes to wear was wide, cuffed stovepipe pants; Italian Knits or High Roll shirts, and Old Man Comfort shoes. We also went St. Georges in S. Pat. a few times. St. Mary's was another. Bop, Slop, Cha Cha and Wooly Bully are a couple of dances I recall. Good times!

Going back a little further- Dances at the "Dux Club." somewhere in the Lakeview section. Fraternities & sororities would rent the club, hire a band & sell tickets. Remember the "Marriage Booth" at dances at Central? "Mashed Potatoes." Alpaca Sweaters, "Nicky Newark" high roll collars and high waist pants-epitomized by Caiazzo (Totowa, I think) & Capo!(South Paterson)

I too remember the dances at the Lincoln Club on West Broadway and Union Avenue. The club used to be packed with kids. Does anyone remember Friday and Saturday nights at the Boiler Room in the summer when there would be between 30 and 50 kids hanging out. Paul Paulson would be there with his portable record player. Great times with great friends. Those were the days.......

I recognize many of these names, my sister Cristine was very close with Paul Paulson and Paul was always at our house on Maitland Ave. Cristine attended JFK High School and would have graduated in 1970 had we not moved away. There was always a crowd of her friends at our house: Chester Yenetti, Bobby Baker, and a whole crew of others. Yes, Paul always had a portable record player and boasted one of the largest record collections anywhere and could name any recording artist.
