what ever happened to the Stengel family there was an older brother Rusty and a brother Mark and a sister Lori and a few others i believe.i believe they lived on Colonie and Jim Alvino who lived on West Broadway up near Katz ave and Frank Frasche the Lormans, Whitey O'Neil the gang from the little park The Stengels lived on Chamberlin. i remember Mark and last saw him about about 20 years ago. I lived on Colonial and knew quite a few people from the the street and surrounding area. I haven't seen any of them in too many years to count. I remember meeting a Gary Lorman through Mike Fusco. The Frashe name I recall but I don't think the first name was Frank. Whitey once lived in Brook Sloat projects. I last saw him in 69. He was a sub teacher at Kennedy. Little Park. I see Ron Johnstone quite a bit. he lives in NY state, has several acres of land does siding. his ex-wife, Maryann Antinasio was living in north NJ and was having health problems. Tim DeMarco was, and still may be, a Paterson cop. Ralph Dean was last living down the shore. Gene DeChristina was in Greenwood Lake area and was having health proble. I heard Vic DiMartino passed away as did Patsy Sylvestri. Jake King was last known to be out west somewhere but doing OK. One of the reasons i made this site, and the Brook Sloat, www.mykard.com/brooksloat/, projects site, was that they would be found and that I could reconnect with my old buddies. What is actually happening is that while most my old "gang" hasn't found their way here yet, I've connected with new people and getting to know people that I only knew in passing during my earlier years. I'm constantly surprised at who shows up or emails me about one of my sites.

The Lormans- Roger '66 and Gary '68- Last I heard Roger was in Paterson- Hillcrest section, Gary- living in the shore area. Whitey O'Neill- don't know where he is now but remember him as a terrific guy- dated a friend of mine- Maryluise- for years. I remember his older sister Kathy, too-we worked together in Quackenbush's in the 60's. Knew Bill Frasche('66)-hung with Chuck De Prima ('66)-both were in my "Special U.S. History" class, sr. year, taught by Don Cassapula-GREAT class- started the school year by blowing up a scale model of the battleship "Maine" with firecrackers. Learned history by acting out some of the events that shaped our nation- (Thanks Mr. C- your class could have landed any of us a spot on Jeopardy-You were the BEST!) P.S. Glad to know you gentlemen are so well & happy-enjoyed your posts.

Sheam If you worked at Quacks do you remember Scotty the women that worked behind the counter in the resturant downstairs and a women named Fanny that worked on the 1st floor also there were to women both really beautiful that worked at the cosmetics counter one with black hair and very beautiful eyes and one a strikingly beautiful blond. what cruches I had on them I remember sometimes we'd go down to the restuarant and order a coke and fries with gravy they were delicious and it only cost 35 cents and I remember when we were little we'd go to Quacks before school opened in September and get PF Flyers for gym and Buster Browns for school and later on Desert boots and Saddle shoes became big what a time

Hi JP68- Sure, Scotty was as much a fixture in that restaurant underneath the stairs at Quack's as French fries & gravy! Mildred was the white- haired lady in handbags, I think Fanny was the "regular" hosiery lady- I worked her department on Thurs./Fri. evenings & all day Saturday. (Whitey's sister usually covered jewelry.) The ladies in cosmetics were gorgeous!-The blonde - believe her name was "Fay" or "Kay" Hoban- was married in the same church (Saint Agnes') & on the same day as my parents - that would make her pretty near 80 years old today, but I'll bet she is still beautiful! My mother favored Jacobs' 29 on lower Main St. for back-to-school shopping when we were in grade school- always finished with sundaes at Knickerbocker's Soda Fountain across the street. How I longed for Desert boots! - or the very hip girls' version- (JoJo do you remember these?)black leather ankle-high boots (or black ballerina slippers) worn with black stockings! (Unfortunately for me, my mother was partial to Buster Brown's or Keds & white ankle sox. She'll never know the angst she caused me while trying to preserve & protect my arches.) Baseball, JP- Do you go to Renegades' games at the Dutchess Stadium when you're not riding the John Deere? That is truly beautiful country upstate.

Hi, I remember the desert boots and believe me the ballerina's and the leather boots were bought with saved up lunch money or baby sitting money. I had a very strict father and he never let me even wear nylons til I graduated the 8th grade, I liked the leather jackets and ankle braclets but all of my friends wore them too. I hung around in the early to mid 60's with Valerie De Marco and Clara Morgan and Dee Aceto and Daniele Amato. My parents bought my school clothes from Jacob's and Uncle Sam's Shoe store. My friends parents went to Stenchafers and the better stores but who cares they were good friends and we all borrowed anyway. I just want you to know that I did go for the real kool crowd but I also had alot of home friends that were my true good friends and they are the ones that I will always remember and carry around in my heart. Take care JOJO

Jacob's! Boy do I remember them. Was it them that used to give out hot chocolate for the Thanksgiving Day parade? You needed mittens to hold the cup; the chocolate was so hot it burned your lips off. If Patty wasn't so crime-ridden, I'd move back. It's got a nice atmosphere I just love when I visit. I know I'm home when I step off the bus. And the Falls is still entrancing but the planking across the water scares the living sheit out of me...I'm always afraid I'll fall through. Don't get me wrong...growing up on Third Street was rough--devastating--but I met a lot of great people--especially guys. Happy Holidays to all!
